Get a heart health check
COVID-19 has seen people delaying GP appointments, health checks and treatment. Data analysed by the Heart Foundation revealed a 10% drop in GP visits for management of chronic disease in March 2020 compared to that time the year before.1
Looking after your heart health is so important, even during the uncertainty of COVID-19. Professor Brendan Murphy, who served as the Chief Medical Officer of Australia, recommended patients do not neglect their general health conditions and continue with their regular medical check-ups and reviews, this includes patients requiring cardiac care with their cardiologist.

If you are referred for treatment at a GenesisCare Cardiology centre we encourage you to not delay booking a consultation, keep your appointments and follow your treatment plan. Early diagnosis and treatment can be lifesaving.

GenesisCare have implemented a range of safety measures and are following the government health advice in all of our centres so you can access the care you need and limit your risk of COVID-19.
Our cardiologists may offer telehealth consultations for patients who are at higher risk of getting COVID-19, symptomatic or anxious about travelling to an appointment. Find out more here.
We are asking only carers who are essential to patients’ safety to enter the centre. Visitors will be asked to complete a risk assessment on arrival.
Visitors may not be admitted if they:
- Have been diagnosed with coronavirus and have not been released from isolation
- Have arrived in Australia in the last 14 days
- Have come into contact with a person who has a confirmed care of coronavirus in the last 14 days
- Have a temperature of 37.5’c or greater or symptoms of acute respiratory infection
- Have been advised to quarantine or self-isolate by a health authority
- Have recently visited a hot spot
Providing safe and clean facilities remains a key focus, and we have increased the frequency of cleaning rounds including in high use areas such as waiting and consultation rooms.
To reduce the number of people in the waiting room, please arrive no more than 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you arrive earlier, please remain in your car.
GenesisCare adheres to the latest global health advice and local legislation. This means all staff interacting with patients will wear PPE such as masks when appropriate and recommended by local guidelines.
GenesisCare has an emergency response plan in place which we will activate if a patient and/or employee becomes positive for COVID-19.
Please let us know if you are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose or lose of taste or smell. Visit the Department of Health website for information on seeking medical attention for symptoms of COVID-19 and ensure you communicate your current diagnosis and treatments to clinicians or telemedicine providers. Please call us in advance of your appointment if you are feeling unwell.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitiser provided, avoid touching your face, and cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if you cough or sneeze. Please dispose of tissues and wash hands immediately following.
It is important that you continue to take any medications that have been prescribed for you.
